Raising the Debt Ceiling

I'm not an economist.  I don't have a background in business or claim to have any formal experience.  I, like all other Americans, have to balance my own budget.  It would make sense that a nation's finances could be compared to the finances of an individual.  Both have expenses, a certain amount of income that is earned (or taxed) to cover those expenses.  All expenses should be less than what is earned or money is needs to be borrowed.  An individual can start racking up debt on their credit cards, pull out money from their house and get personal, and expensive car loans.  The government does the very same thing, on a much wider and damaging scale of course.

The United States has accumulated more debt than has ever been presented in WORLD history.  Even fiscally crumbling empires such as the Spanish and Rome dynasties with their immense internal problems cannot even compare remotely to the debt we've massed.  The government is at the point where it has maxed out its credit cards, mommy and daddy won't loan them money (China), and it can't earn enough money because it's 600 lbs overweight and can only work part time in a union job (expanse of government with high public employee costs that smother over regulated business and overtaxed individuals).  Any other person whose maxed out their credit cards has to do a massive evaluation of their finances.  Unecessary expenses have to be cut such as going out to eat, cable and weekend trips.  Also if the debt's bad enough, downsize to a smaller house or apartment and consider getting a night job.  All these things millions of Americans have had to do since the beginning of the Great Recession but the government has deemed itself exempt from any sort of responsiblility.

In order to continue spending the debt limit must be raised.  The typical ideological warriors come out of the woodwork to use this crisis as a way to make a point or further exaggerate the effects of not getting their way.  Just this morning I read on THE BLAZE that Obama threatened that Social Security, active duty soldiers, and medicare recipients wouldn't be recieving their checks, which is the same argument used when the government was going to go through its shutdown.  Everyone knows that tree huggers love to use this type of fear to pass legislation.  Anyone that threatens SS, and Medicare is sure to recieve nasty (but not too nasty) letter from seniors and those hired by the AARP to pose as 90 year old grandmas.  What makes me giggle however, is the same people that rely on these benefits, are the ones that should be pushing for government responsibility the hardest.  Think about it, seniors, especially depression babies, have always lived within their means.  They've managed to raise a large family on one income with money left over to retire themselves.  Granted they were promised a monthly check if they worked for a certain period of time, which they're entitled to, but wouldn't it make much more sense to guarantee that check each month with a surplus?

Me, like every other responsible tax paying citizen, would just love to see the over all problem solved.  No not the debt ceiling, not the increased or decreased taxes, or even the abolishment of the EPA.  We just want to see fiscal responsitiblity and government efficiency.  Sometimes that would require cuts and sometimes expansion.  I can promise though, that if government was operating in its more efficient state, we would probably see massive surpluses and a healthy unemployment level.

Founding Father's Day

Although Father's Day is reserved for the Dad's and Grandpa's in our families I always like to think of the the holiday in a spiritual and historical sense.  Depending on your religion your spiritual father could vary but I also like to think of the Father's of our Nation, the Founding Fathers.  While a father's job is to provide, protect, and support his family the founders played a very similar role in our nation's founding.  Each one of them had to put aside their dreams and aspirations (unless founding a country was on the Bucket list) to serve their countrymen.  In many instances putting their lives and wealth on the line.  They knew that only a moral and God-fearing society would be able to rule themselves, which I guess they deemed their society able because the Constitution was ratified in 1791 and its been down hill ever since, quite literally.

The prodical son can be applied directly to the USA.  We've been on a spiraling downward spin for the past century and a half with no end in sight.  Progressive, athiest, socialists have worked their way into high positions in our government which has allowed them to "nudge" legislation and influence the masses to conform to their eco-friendly utopian mindset.  The Founding Father's knew that society had to remain informed and active in their communities in order for the government to remain "by the people, and for the people."  Progressives, with their sly, uncanny abilities to Berney's their way into the minds of uneducated, and sheep like masses have convinced a large amount of people that the Government is on its way!  When I look back on Father's Day at what our founders have created, right after I have paid my respects to my current Dad, I can't help but think of their reaction to the country we live in today.  What still baffles me however is even though we've lost our lackluster and libertarian liberties we're still the beacon of light in the pit of darkness that is the world (and UN).  Maybe one day, hopefully in my lifetime, I can look at the times and say we've taken a turn for the better and so when I'm a father on father's day my kids won't have to worry about overwhelming debt or the fear of being blown up on an airplane and they can focus on spoiling me on the special day.

GBTV Announced!

Earlier this year Glenn Beck announced that he would be leaving his afternoon Fox show to pursue other ventures.  One would think that Glenn can only do more from here, givin his exhausting work ethic.  He has finally announced the starting of his own Internet network Glenn Beck TV.  It will feature a 2 hour daily episode, similar to the one already given, as well as other documentaries, photos, stories, and Glenn material.  Because of Glenn's strong belief in capitalism there's a fee to register for his network.  For more information visit the website.

FUNNY PICTURES SOON TO COME!!!

Glenn Beck's "Restoring Courage Rally" to be held in Jerusalem

I was one of the die hards that attended Glenn's "Restoring Honor" Rally in DC on 8/28.  Glenn, with his quite useful ADHD, did a superb job in planning this rally for all the Patriots able to get off work for the weekend and willing to sit in cramped coach seating.  After hearing about Glenn's trip to Israel last week I knew that he wouldn't be there to just see the sight and meet the people (although I'm sure he excelled at both).  This will be a rally that will as Glenn says "ripple across the Earth."
